For those getting started on my page, I recommend starting with establishing a family language plan first.
You can then follow the steps described in a chart below, following the links of each category which will help you establish positive daily routines for learning, prepare your home environment, and develop a foundation in literacy skills. While building a literacy foundation, try some culture and language or other hands-on activities including cooking/baking. These are all key to developing and maintaining language skills at home!
Step 1 through 3 (family language plan, daily routines, literacy-rich home environment) help establish ‘consistency’ in language use and learning at home, which is one of three major concepts of bilingual parenting employed by Bilingual Beans, based on research and study in the field of Second Language Studies and Foreign Language Teaching. We strongly recommend first setting up your home and daily routines as well as your family language plan to start navigating bilingual parenting at home!
Once you have the foundations established, I currently have two sets of learning materials: one for preschoolers and the other for primary schoolers. While I’ve organized them in a sequence that makes sense to me, feel free to arrange them in any order. Be sure to check back often, as more materials will be coming soon!
These last activities are primary hands-on activities. Currently, I have activities for Cooking & Baking, but more will be coming soon. These can be used in addition to the curriculum above.
